Durango blows warm air at stoplights but fine on highway. Is this a fan issue or something worse?
Got a 2018 Durango GT and the AC has been acting weird the last couple weeks. When I'm cruising on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road it's nice and cold, no complaints at all, but the second I hit traffic or sit at a red light for more than thirty seconds the air coming out of the vents turns noticeably warmer like the system just gave up. As soon as I start moving again it cools back down within a minute or two. My first thought was maybe the condenser fan isn't kicking on when it should or it's weak, because I can hear the engine fan roaring away when it's hot out but I have no idea if the AC fan is doing its own thing separately on these Pentastar setups. I'm trying to avoid just throwing a can of refrigerant at it if the issue is actually electrical or a sensor problem. Since we just had a new baby I really don't want the wife stuck in a hot car while I'm at work and she's running errands around Sharjah. I saw some mention of a place with Dodge AC Certified Mechanics in Sharjah while I was digging through old forum posts last night and I'm thinking maybe it's time to let someone with the right diagnostic tools take a peek instead of me guessing. Anyone dealt with this exact symptom before and know if it's usually a simple fan resistor swap or something deeper like a compressor on its way out?
